John Powers, a veteran of the New York real estate landscape for more than three decades, first as the chairman of CBRE’s Tri-State region and today as the EVP of Boston Properties’ New York region, is profiled for his work with Right to Dream USA, one of the most highly regarded youth soccer schools in the world. The nonprofit, founded by Powers, functions as the U.S. arm of Right to Dream, a school and soccer academy in Ghana which provides West African children with a place to live, study and learn as students and soccer players.

Magick Blyss Entertainment, a company that has worked with hip-hop and R & B artists, has signed a 5,000 SF, full-building lease at the two-story 101 Morgan Avenue in East Williamsburg. Robert Klein and Grant Dolgin of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates arranged the deal on behalf of the tenant and landlord, Wilmington Property Associates. The new space, will be used as a performance arts center and a recording studio. Magick Blyss was founded by Kevin Huente, a hip-hop dancer who made it to the top 14 on the Fox television competition “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2009.

Construction commenced on the first project for architecture firm Pickard Chilton in its native New Haven, the Barack H. Obama Magnet University School. The three-story, 63,000-square-foot project on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) will be a New Haven Public School (NHPS) for 490 Pre-K through 4th grade students. It will additionally extend opportunities for interning, volunteering and mentoring for SCSU’s School of Education students that are studying to become teachers. The Barack H. Obama Magnet University School will nurture a focus on innovation and best practices for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, and special education. Pickard Chilton incorporated into the school such sustainable highlights as photovoltaic rooftop panels and green roofs.
