The Real Deal takes a look at the increase in shared living arrangements in New York as rent rises faster than income rates. By analyzing renter demographics, Daniel Parker of Hodges Ward Elliott noted that renters with roommates in South Williamsburg are getting more “mature,” making more money, and settled with a career. But, because of the high rents, they have roommates. Jacqueline Urgo, president of The Marketing Directors added that catering to to the share market is similar to targeting millennnials directly, since the two groups overlap. Different amenities such as roof decks and open-plan apartments that are desired by this demographic is a great idea.

At a forum hosted by the Urban Land Institute, several prominent Bronx developers talked about the increased interest in the borough for development. Said Guy Leibler, president of Simone Healthcare Development, “There have been smart investments in developments where developers see value. I think we’re seeing an increasing job base in the the Bronx.” He also noted that housing in the Bronx has to be addressed before it could truly flourish.

Mack Real Estate Credit Strategies has closed a $200 million first mortgage bridge loan for 520 Fifth Avenue, a high-profile development site located at Fifth Avenue and 43rd Street in Midtown Manhattan being developed through a joint venture of Ceruzzi Holdings and Shanghai Municipal Investment USA. The news was the lead story in the most recent Commercial Observer Finance Weekly.

During the second quarter of 2017, Brooklyn set some new residential price records — the median price of any apartment increased nearly 21 percent to $795,000. The average sales price increased as well, and is now close to breaking $1 million. Halstead’s Brooklyn office tracked the record average of $1,109,602 for town home prices, coming out to $481 PSF.

A team from Thornton Tomasetti and Perkins+Will sets out to build an all-timber tower, called River Beech Tower, in downtown Chicago. Construction Dive highlights the benefits of building with wood vs. steel. and the technical aspects that would make this project possible. The 80-story, 800-food-tall mass-timber tower would be along the Chicago River’s South Branch.

Tompkins Mahopac Bank will open at Simone Development Cos.’ Boyce Thompson Center in Yonkers. A ceremonial ribbon cutting will be held to launch the bank’s newest branch.
According to Deadline, the series will also feature David Cross as Cy Grossman, an honest, shy business owner and family man desperately trying to reconnect with his daughter. Robert Sheehan, Elliott Page, Tom Hopper and other actors will return to their roles in the show’s sequel, whose filming will begin in the coming days. The series is an adaptation of a comic book series created by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way. It is the story of a team of young talents called Umbrella Academy. Years later, the six surviving students reunite to solve Jamie Campbell Bower movies and tv shows the mystery of the death of their adoptive father, Academy founder Sir Reginald Hargreaves. The world is about to end, but thanks to Number Five’s ability, the heroes manage to go back in time. In the second season, they will try to fix everything and prevent the apocalypse.
