The Praedium Group acquired The Adeline, a 237-unit luxury rental community in Maitland, Fl. The lakefront property at 304 Lake Avenue was built last year by Pollack Shores Real Estate Group. The Adeline has one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with high-end finishes and amenities like a clubroom, fitness center and fishing dock.

Long Island Business News features EW Howell Construction Group’s Benefit for a Friend in its weekly nonprofit highlights. This summer volunteers from EW Howell’s Benefit for a Friend committee presented the Mentors Giving Voices Across North Babylon program with a donation of $5,000 at their year-end breakfast. The Mentors Across North Babylon connects students and staff to help students strengthen their innate abilities, and discover their maximum potential. Since founding Benefit for a Friend in 2003, EW Howell has sponsored the organization’s signature golf outing and commits itself to causes on a local level that help raise money for families in need.

ABS Partners has been retained by the owners of 40 Bruckner to market an Opportunity Zone site in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Alex Kaskel, Randy Modell and Ryan Cerqueira of ABS are pitching the site, which has 287 feet of frontage along Bruckner and another 200 feet along Alexander Avenue.

Summer 2019
Metals in Construction’s Summer 2019 issue features the facade renovation of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. Forest City Ratner completed the renovation in April 2017 and incorporates an overcladding design featuring 4,700 individual Alucobond fins. Efe Karanci of Thornton Tomasetti speaks with MiC about the project and its challenges. Thornton Tomasetti was the project’s structural engineer and provided facade consulting services.

Savanna closes on its planned $180 million purchase of AEW Capital Management’s 360 Lexington Avenue. The buyer plans $20 million in capital improvements including a lobby and entrance renovation, prebuilt program and infrastructure upgrades. A JLL team of Mitch Konsker, Barbara Winter, Ben Bass and Kip Orban will lead marketing and leasing for the property, which is 82% leased.

Bill Edwards, vice president of protective design and security at Thornton Tomasetti is quoted in The Hour about companies and how they should budget for security, specifically addressing active shooter threats, and train employees how to recognize and communicate when a situation might be brewing. Many companies do not wish to contemplate the investment of time and money to address security, but it is always worth it.

Taft talks about ways to create a safe, stable base through healthier and environmentally conscious design and products, improving quality of life for residents and ultimately benefitting the community.

Elliot Zelinger and Corey Hight of Savitt Partners represented the landlord of 31 East 32nd Street in a 5,532-SF lease for Catchafire, a firm that matches skilled volunteers with nonprofit agencies. Catchafire is doubling its Midtown South headquarters; with this new lease, the tenant occupies 11,064-SF at the property and will move into its new offices o the entire fourth floor in Q1 2020.
