The Populous-designed Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Wash. officially opened, the new home of the Seattle Kraken professional hockey team. The 17,400-seat arena was reconstructed in the historic structure originally designed by Paul Thiry in 1962. The expanded 740,000-square-foot arena can bill itself as the world’s first net-zero carbon professional sports facility thanks to a solar roof that also features the ability to harvest rainwater, EV charging stations, and a pedestrian-centric program.

Populous, a global architecture firm, worked with G4 to redevelop a 1960s-era studio in Burbank, California that will serve as a 24/7 broadcast studio, collaborative workplace and professional gaming space. The 67,000-square-foot space comprises 40,000 square feet of office, 15,000 square feet of broadcast production space and 5,000 square feet for esports training and gaming.Comcast Spectacor, a sports and entertainment division of Comcast Corp. is relaunching G4 on linear TV and streaming on Nov. 16 after eight years off the air.

The Cordish Companies began construction on Three Light Luxury Apartments, a 26-story, 288-unit multifamily property in the Power & Light District of Kansas City, Mo. Three Light’s opening will bring the total number of new apartment units in downtown Kansas City from the developer to 900. While Three Light will have luxury units, including several penthouse apartments that are already in lease negotiations, it will also have more than 20 percent of its units priced below the 80 percent AMI affordability threshold.
