Empire State Realty Trust, Hines and affordable housing providers Omni New York and L+M Development Partners are slashing emissions at seven buildings through a combination of retrofits and carbon offsets — off-site investment in carbon-reducing projects such as wind farms. The four have also committed to replicating the energy-saving solutions across their combined 37 million square feet of buildings, to help serve as a blueprint for other landlords in the city. The article also references Hines’ upgrades at 345 Hudson Street and its plan to merge it with 555 Greenwich Street, one of the most sustainable office buildings.

Marx Realty has acquired a 110,000-SF office building in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood from JBG SMITH for $27.7 million. The six-story building at 2121 Wisconsin Avenue has experienced active leasing, including the expansion of Nexstar Media Group to 28,766 SF on the full third floor and part of the first floor. Another tenant is CommuniKids, a language immersion preschool, which occupies 8,900 square feet on the first floor.
