EW Howell Construction Group served as general contractor for two New York City public schools – PS 464 in Manhattan and the Tommie L. Agee Educational Campus at IS 419 in Flushing. The firm also celebrated the construction kickoff of a third, IS 322K in Brooklyn. The firm was awarded the contracts by the New York City School Construction Authority.

Silverstein Properties and Arden Group, the joint venture that owns 1735 Market St., have signed five leases totaling 75K SF. UBS Financial Services signed the largest of the five, taking 23K SF on a 10-year, 10-month lease to relocate from elsewhere in the building to the 44th floor. Capital One has also signed a nine-year, 22K SF lease to place an “innovation center” in the building, relocating some office functions from the suburbs.

Hodges Ward Elliott, a boutique real estate capital markets advisor, recently released major takeaways from its New York City Q2 2022 hospitality market report. As the U.S. continues to recover from the events of the last two years, New York City tourism is returning to pre-pandemic levels as both international and business travel to the area has surged over the past few months. In addition, the reopening of numerous hotels throughout the city, as well as the return of Broadway shows, has also stoked the market, which bodes well for the future health of the New York City hospitality sector.

Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation arranged $61.8 million in construction financing for a five-story, 264-unit multifamily development at 375 Whitney Avenue in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary Sefcik, a director based out of the MMCC New York office, and Phillip Gause, first VP of capital markets in MMCC’s Denver office, secured the financing on behalf of a private real estate development company.

Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation has named Pete Fehlman as managing director. Fehlman will lead a Dallas-based hospitality finance practice. He will handle hospitality and resort debt as well as equity advisory transactions throughout North America on behalf of MMCC’s clients. Before joining the capital markets firm, Fehlman served as managing director at Atlanta-based Hodges Ward Elliott.

Blue Owl Capital Inc., a private equity shop, is expanding its offices in Manhattan with a lease at the Seagram Building. The firm is taking 137,660-SF of space in the tower at 375 Park Ave, the landmark tower where owner RFR has signed a total of 375,000 square feet of leases this year, including Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Sound Point Capital Management and Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, which plans to use the space for Churchill Asset Management.
