Remote work is helping to revitalize real estate in New York City’s residential areas, particularly Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The increase in daytime foot traffic is attracting retailers to the neighborhood, as work-from-home residents buy all of their necessities locally. Brandon Singer, CEO of Retail by MONA, noted that retail space on North 6th, a major Williamsburg thoroughfare, was renting for $100 PSF before the pandemic, and now asking rents are $300 psf.
