Madison Realty Capital closed on its latest debt fund, exceeding its goal of raising $1 billion. The fund, Madison Realty Capital Debt Fund IV LP, originates and acquires commercial mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity interests. The firm also announced that it has now completed more than $10 billion in debt and equity transactions since it was founded in 2004.

Hodges Ward Elliott arranged the $88-million sale of a pair of multifamily buildings in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, the borough’s largest single-asset multifamily deal in more than six years.

Pickard Chilton is designing Cousins Properties’ new Atlanta, Georgia office tower at 650 West Peachtree Street, which is set to be the new HQ for the Norfolk Southern railroad. The 1-million-square-foot building features two glass towers connected by a five-story hub, gardens, and tools for collaboration. The campus is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.

A Jersey City resident is featured in The New York Times’ “The Hunt,” where we follow him on his journey for a new home in the area. Originally a renter-turned-condo-owner in the Liberty Harbor complex in Jersey City, Vick Sharma was looking to sell the apartment at a premium and rent nearby. With the help of The Marketing Directors / Brandon Ochs, the on-site leasing team for 333 Grand, Vick found his dream apartment and moved right in.

Mering is responsible for the formulation and execution of Waterton’s hotel investment strategy, oversight of asset management and further developing investor relationships. He joins Waterton with more than 23 years of hospitality experience.

RAL Companies

RAL Development Services, along with Junius Real Estate Partners have formed a joint venture to develop 124 East 14th Street in Manhattan, the site of a two-story P.C Richard store. The JV plans a 21-story tower called NYC Tech Hub, and will include a tech-focused training center and incubator run by Civic Hall, digitally attuned office space and a multi-vendor food hall by Urbanspace. The building will be heavily focused on tech. A JLL team headed by Mitchell Konsker will handle leasing.

CoStar discusses the origin of apartment building names across the country. While development teams strive to keep the originality, some apartment complexes are prone to duplication, especially in second-tier markets where they may be named after a creek or a hill. Jacqueline Urgo, president of The Marketing Directors says one way to stay original would be to name the building after the founder or developer of the property itself. Or, if it’s a conversion, use the name to tell a story about the building’s former life.
